Yelp connects people with great local businesses. The users have contributed over 100 million reviews of almost every type of local business, from restaurants, boutiques and salons to dentists, mechanics, plumbers and more. The business of Yelp revolves around the connections made between the consumers who read and write reviews and the local businesses that they describe. Yelp was founded in San Francisco in July 2004.

The growth of Yelp and its users

Yelp's aggressive growth can be traced back to its incredible success in advertising and recommendationg system as well as to its continuously evolving services. Its tremendous reach today comes as a result of a decade of establishing itself as a leader in the field of local community coverage.

Along its way, Yelp has walked away from a half-billion purchase offer from Google, and gone public with a trenmendous number of brand-new and elite users to share their insights, reviews and recommendations within billions of fashion business.

There are several interesing statistical facts that we can take into considerations:

First, the usage of yelp among new users is increasing according time since its birth of 2004 almost exponentially. From the statistics, we could almost make an assumption that because of the rich communities of locals in big cities, Yelp has evolved as a Web site, as well as a popular mobile application the way that Wikipedia has in the encyclopedia space.

Second, there are local maximum in new users sign-ups. Also, the trends of new reviews and new relationships are quite similar.
To figure out the patterns and the relations between the time periods and new reviews, we draw the following chart.

We can see that there are several months in one year, like June, July and November, December, the number of new reviews or new relationships are always large. Mainly because these time periods are summer vacation or national day-offs.
